I received an email earlier in the day to suggest we should not arrive before six as Dartford was home to Port Vale in the First Round of the FA Cup. When we arrived just after six delayed by queues of traffic going to Danson Park Firework Display, there were just a few fans getting the last of the taxis.
The meal was Halved Baby Melon or Cherry Tomato & Bocconcini Salad, followed by Roasted Welsh Lamb or Roast Chicken or Vegetarian Tart, followed by White Chocolate and Raspberry Box or a Traditional British Cheese Board. Coffee or Tea and Mints.
There were a number of toasts to and from the top table to the Guests and the Chairman. This was followed by the Loyal Toast to Her Majesty The Queen and to Oddfellowship in this our Two Hundredth Year. Oh! The score on the day was Port Vale one Dartford one, so the game would be replayed. The Guest of Honour and Visitors proposed by Brother Roger Burley Past Grand Master. The response was from Brother Alan Cole Grand Master who replied and proposed a toast to the Chairman Brother Alan Collins Past Provincial Grand Master. The Toast Master Brother John Dawson finished the speeches by wishing all to have
a great night and a safe journey home.
Speeches over the dancing started, one table was moved to the side to allow more room. The DJ mainly played fast, beat music. Dave White asked for a change of tempo and the floor filled with couples as he played a couple of slow ones starting with Lady in Red. Dancing went on till midnight
