Murder Mystery at The Flower of Kent on 30th October 2010

Now that was the best night I have had for a long time, I do hope we can do this again. With only a month to go only 25 tickets had been sold, then there was a run on the tickets and eighty nine turned up on the night.

The time on the ticket was 19:30 but when I arrived at 19:10 it was a struggle to park the car. At 19:30 the play started. The production was West Side Story and it began with them rehearsing one of the musical numbers from the show. They had a break and whilst talking all of the claws came out. Glorias husband had mortgaged his house to put on the production but was having an affair with Alice. The Cleaners daughter kept being overlooked for staring roles and worked as the stage hand, it was later relieved that the Director was her Father. The plot continued the thicken including Thomas who instead of being on holiday last month had attended a clinic for drug abuse. It soon became apparent that Gloria was hated by all.  The Gloria decided to go for a shower in the “Stars' Dressing Room”. The cleaner provided tea for all and when she took the tea to Gloria, she found her electrocuted in the shower with key in the outside of the lock.

There was an interval where all discussed whodunnit. Act two started where each of the players accused others of motive for the crime. In the interval to act three, fish or chicken and chips were served. Following the final act the players came amongst us and we were allowed to ask questions of them. It was then decision time and each table worked out who they thought had done it and why. All table handed in the blue sheet containing the murderer and why. They announced there was only one winner.  Each of the actors stepped forward and claimed their innocence until Thomas admitted it was him. The motive was Gloria would ruin him if they found out he had been a drug addict. He thought Alice would have been blaimed as she used the shower earlier in the week.

The winners were the Marple Family. The table of six got a carrier bag of goodies each. The raffle was drawn and it was nice to see a spread of winners across all of the tables. Quite a bit of money was raised for the PGM Charity Leukaemia Research.
