10th Annual Jazz Picnic at Hartley on Sunday 27th June for Arthritis Research UK.

Oddfellows from North West Kent District and St Mary Cray and District attended a lovely afternoon of jazz and a big band to raise money for Arthritis Research which was at Church Lane Hartley Kent. £6 was charges at the gate for adults, children free. This was the hottest day of 2010 so far and to spend lovely day out in the Kent countryside.  Music was from The Radio Rhythmakers and the Mike Richards Big Band, plus singers.  Arrive pay the £6 park in a field patrolled by security, bring your chairs, tables and picnic and enjoy.

The music was continual until Radio continuity and Voice of the Lottery, Alan Dedicoat ran a raffle which raise almost £1000 for the charity with items such as a painting of a Spitfire and Sunday Lunch with Terry Wogan at a date of your choice. Alan also came round several times with a bucket collecting small change. Then the music restarted with a nice blend of Jazz and Big Band, there were a number of singers who sang with both bands

Around the sides will be there was stalls, games and refreshments. Also a Hog roast, tea coffee and cakes from the Pavilion. Almost at the end there was a comprehensive raffle which raised a lot of money. All working on the day were volunteers and all money raised went to the charity.

I will be attending this Jazz Picnic, depending on the weather
