Fifty Oddfellows, friends and potential new members had a lovely day out in Eastbourne. Fingers crossed the rain would stay away and it only rained in the last thirty minutes. From here our coach from Plan-it Travel in the St Georges clad livery arrived at five to take us on to the Wheatsheaf at Bexhill. As we approached we thought the driver had lost his way, as he drove three times round the roundabout, really he was giving time for the pub staff to remove the A Boards so the coach could park outside the front. Once there we were joined by six others, Michael and Pauline Josling, Trixie and Dennis Anderson, Marjorie and Tom Tennick. Unfortunately the Wheatsheaf has changed hands and the food was not up to the usual standard, on the next trip we will probably go to the Dog and Duck at Plucks Gutter.
All the way from Eastbourne to the Pub and all the way home we had a jolly good sing song of songs from the war and popular favourites of the time. Music CD's supplied by Bradley Magee and Stephen Howden. As we approached the first drop off point of the Flower of Kent Lodge, our driver thanked us for our generosity and wished us a nice weekend.
The next event at the Flower of Kent
is Andy Owen on 3rd September
