Cream Tea Dance Held at the Flower of Kent on Sunday 18th July 2010

It seems to be a tradition to have a PGM Cream Tea, this year it was held at the Flower of Kent Lodge. We had a DJ who played 40's music as we ate the comprehensive spread. It started with finger sandwiches, then scones with clotted cream and jam, followed by Strawberries and more clotted cream and finally gateaux and cakes. All washed down with plenty of tea and coffee how this could be supplied for only £3.50 is any ones guess. For those with a need for something a little stronger Marina Morris gave her time freely to run the bar. As a special treat there for Pimms Fruit Cocktails at £7 a jug.

Pam and her team put a lot of effort in to make this event so enjoyable. I suppose at this point we should thank Pam,Colin and Bradley, Linda and Reg, Ann and Linda. There was Jacqui who kept the tea and coffee supplied. Other member of the Flower of Kent helped out as and when, which was nice to see the work load being shared.

Following the food the dancing began at this point the DJ played a couple of waltzes and then moved to Disco taking requests. There was a raffle which made £70 and a bottle raffle with the remnants of the items which remained from the Family Fun Day at Farningham, this raised £80. All proceeds went to the PGMs' charity. The afternoon was supposed to be 3pm till 6pm and although is started on time it over-ran a little, as we were all having a lovely time and the DJ was not in a hurry to pack up.

The event was well supported with 58 members, friends and potential new members. We are all looking forward to the next Cream Tea next year around the same time of the year, I do hope we have one.
