Church Service held on the 4th September 2011

The Annual Church Service was held on Sunday, 4th Sept 2011 in the Christ Lutheran Church, Poverest Rd, Orpington at 3pm. Representatives from the districts of Southampton, Dorking and the St. Mary Cray & Dartford District: attended as well as the Past Grand Master of the Order, Sis: Dorothy Deacon.

The Pastor John Ehler made a very nice welcome speech on Friendship and Love and on this theme he congratulated Bro: Ken and Sis: Eileen Williams on their forthcoming 70th Wedding Anniversary.

Bro: Peter Clarke led in the first hymn by playing the first chorus as a solo on his clarinet. (Well Done Peter – a man of many Talents!)

The lessons were read by Sis: Vera James PGM and Sis: Pam Magee Deputy PGM.
A lovely and ample buffet was laid on to be enjoyed after the Service, this had been supplied by Sis: Vera and her two daughters.

It had been decided earlier to use this occasion as a ’Platinum’ opportunity to make presentations to Bro: & Sis: Williams from the Lodges that they had both attended, to mark this, their very special Wedding Anniversary. They were given a lovely Orchid plant, an ‘Oddfellow’ Rose Bush and a bottle of Whisky (Maybe to water the plants!!) Bro Ken gave a thank you speech and showed the members a Silver framed Congratulation Certificate they had received from Head Office at Manchester.
