The Children's Party was held at the Flower of Kent on Sunday 6th December. Forty eight children from the Lodges of the Flower of Kent, Lord Homesdale and the Good Intent plus a couple of friends enjoyed a lovely afternoon. There was a professional Disco with Chris providing the music and Jim organising the games. There was an interval for food which was prepared by an army of volunteers of Colin and Pam Magee, Linda and Reg Knapp, Linda Drakley (DPGM) Sue Potts and Shirley Freeman. Prov: Grand Master, Rita Wetherilt sold Xmas Hamper Raffle Tickets to be drawn next Saturday at the Adult Christmas Disco. Tables were laid out and the children sat together helping themselves to the food. Adults sat separately getting tea and coffee from Joan and Alf. Following this there was more fun and games from the Disco guys. At 5pm the children were asked to sit on the floor as Santa would be here soon, Alf had a special role to play at this point. The children sang Santa's favourite song Jingle Bells and Santa arrived. Santa came in pulling a sledge of presents, the children sat round him waiting for their names to be read out. As each child came up they got a wrapped present of a selection box and envelope, containing 2 x £5 vouchers obtained from Unity. Parents helped the younger children to open their presents older ones needed no help. Following this all prepared to leave, there was comments from those who attend every year, that this was the best Children's Party ever.
