At Home 09 at the Walnut Lounge Swanley 17 October 2009

Around 100 attended the At Home in honour of the Provincial Grand Master Sister Rita Wetherilt. All of the lodges of our District were represented plus 12 members of Woolwich District.

The evening started at the arrival with many seeing old friends, this was followed by a two course meal served by the waitresses at a table. This was followed by speeches by Brother Ron Wadlow, with the life story of our PGM, most of the information was given by her daughter. Sister Rita then gave a small speech thank everyone for coming and for the kind comments from Brother Ron. Brother Peter Clarke welcomed the visitors and this was responded by Brother Alan Cole who is the Deputy Grand Master. Two floral tributes we presented.

The tables covering the dances floor were moved and the Band "Changes" started to play. At the interval the Raffle was drawn raising £146.50 for the PGMs' Charities. The band then played their final session. Those on each of the tables ran mini raffles, or names out of the hat for the table decorations which raised more money for the charities.

At 23:30 we all prepared to leave. Many friends parted. Brother Graham Elliot reminded us that Burns Night is the next event in Swanley on 23rd January 2010. The next big event for this District is the Christmas Disco on 12th December Saturday at the Flower of Kent 7pm

You may notice I do take photos on request. If anyone wants a photo taken at any event, please see me on the night and I will be happy to take a photo and send it on to you
