The was a really nice evening of entertainment staring Andy Owen. Already there are calls for us to have him back again. Lord Homesdale, Good Intent, The Pride of Kent and The Flower of Kent were fully represented. So nice to see so many old faces, a chance to catch up. There was also a lot of the new members from the Flower of Kent together with many potential new members who had come along as friends of members.
By 19:30 most had taken their seats. Andy Owen had background music playing as we took our seats. At 19:45 he started to sing. He announced the he would sing for three forty five minute spots, the first would be old songs made famous by Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett. Matt Monro finishing off with Michael Buble'. As the meal of Fish or Scampi or Chicken and Chips was delayed Andy continued to sing beyond the intended 45 minutes doing some line dance and a little disco which filled the floor. Following the meal Andy changed costumes to look like Elvis and continued to sing a lot of his songs. In the last section he did songs from the sixties where one couple did a Jive. At 22:30 the raffle was drawn. Dancing went back to disco. Andy thanked Pam for all she had done and to the Bar Staff. Then at 23:00 the tempo changed to a sing-along, including “Singing in the Rain” where Bradley Magee opened an umbrella and many joined him in a line singing as they danced.
Dancing stopped at 23:20, many stayed behind to move the chairs and tables. We all wished each other a safe journey home and hope to see them at the Halloween Disco which is the next event at the Flower of Kent on Saturday 29th October 2011
